Thumbnails for Search Engines Results with Firefox

July 4th, 2008 by Mack

Apparently, I have been missing out.  I stumbled across this nifty little Firefox plugin while doing some research about a project I am working on.  GooglePreview returns thumbnails on the search engine result pages for both Yahoo and Google.  I decided to use Authority Directory as my lab rat today, thanks for volunteering Bruce.  The initial thumbnail service is provided by Thumbshots.

It is always nice to get a preview of what your about to click on, not that I have any doubt in Google or Yahoo’s relevancy algorithms.  However, anything that might save me me time is a good thing in my book.  So far, I have not noticed any delays in page load like I sometimes do with other Firefox plugins.  If I did have one complaint, it would be that the thumbnail is not of the page your about to visit, but the initial “home page”.

Somehow, I feel like everyone already knows about this plugin besides me.  As usual, I am the last one to find out.

Being somewhat new to the wonders of FF, you definitely have at least one reader who knows a lot less ;)

Sweet little plugin, checking 2 engines in one shot :)
