Apology for Downtime!
October 17th, 2008 by valhallaAs you are all aware we moved hosting provider last week and are now been hosted on solar powered clustered servers, Unfortunately it was a cloudy day and there was just about enough electricity generated to make a mug of coffee so we were down for approximately 18 hours which was indeed a long time, apparently are new host iMountain have now installed a backup bicycle which has been wired into a battery so the staff now take turns when the sun goes down to cycle the bicycle to keep LoboLinks up and running.
In fairness to iMountain I was notified of the downtime in advance, this was annual maintenance which needed to be carried out and there track record up to this point was 99.99% uptime.
The more 9’s you add to that server uptime figure and the more redundancy you require for your website the more its going to cost to host.
Yes I still recommend iMountain as a host, and I do sleep better knowing I am saving the planet by lowering LoboLinks carbon footprint!
And again my sincerest apology’s to our customers and readers for being down last night and this morning.

I haven’t heard of iMountain before, but it is definitely a great thing you are doing by being hosted by them to reduce your carbon footprint. Good job and if they have had 99.99% uptime before this ordeal then there really is no problem with them in the least.
